STORM LAKE, Iowa (Sept. 18, 2022) - The Buena Vista women's soccer team was again going after back-to-back wins and move above .500, but it faced a tough test in Grinnell College on Sunday and would fall in a hard-fought contest, 2-0, inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium.
The Pioneers (2-1-1) got on the board in the first 16 minutes of the game and added a late first half goal off a corner kick attempt for what would be the final score of the contest. Grinnell finished with 23 total shots with 13 coming on-goal in the contest. The Beavers, who played solid defense and possessed the ball, couldn't get enough shots off.
Amanda Brich and
Mia Norton had the two shots for BVU in the contest.
Maddy Bigalke was tough again in goal for the Beavers, chalking up 11 saves and allowing two goals during her 83 minutes. She gave way to
Trisha Westphal who played the final seven minutes.
Buena Vista drops to 3-4 on the year and now prepares for the American Rivers Conference opener next Saturday, September 24 at home versus Wartburg College at 1:00 p.m.
