Madyline Taylor scored her third goal in the last two matches for the Buena Vista women's soccer team, but it wasn' quite enough on Tuesday night, as visiting Martin Luther hung on to hand BVU a tough 3-1 loss.
The Knights went in front 1-0 in the first five minutes of the match before adding a second goal in the final 10 minutes off a corner kick to lead 2-0 at the break. Martin Luther added its final goal midway through the second half for a 3-0 advantage before Taylor got BVU on the board with just over 10 minutes to go. She now has three goals and an assist to help lead the Beavers early on.
The Beavers held a 17-8 advantage in total shots and a 7-6 margin in shots-on-goal. The team had a number of strong looks around the net but the Knights came away with six saves.
Taylor had a match-high seven total shots with two on-goal.
Amanda Brich was next in line with four shots, along wih Chole Lippert who also had two on-goal.
Maddy Bigalke went the distance again in-goal for the Beavers and registered three saves.
Buena Vista sits at 2-3 overall and will look to bounce back on Saturday morning when the team hosts Illinois College in a match set for 10:00 a.m.
