STORM LAKE, Iowa (Sept. 10, 2022) - The Buena Vista women's soccer team hosted North Central University (Minn.) on Saturday afternoon for its home opener, and after the Rams scored within the opening two minutes, the Beavers rallied for three unanswered goals, including one as time expired to pick up a 3-1 victory.
NCU (0-3) took the early lead just 2:16 into the contest and that's how things stood until BVU evened things up on a
Maddie Burr goal during the 32nd minute for her first collegiate goal.
Madyline Taylor then put the Beavers in front just minutes later with her first career goal. It remained a one goal game until the closing seconds when Taylor got a shot off from nearly 45 yards out as the Rams goalkeeper came way out, and it rolled through just as the clock hit triple zero's. The win avenged the team's 1-0 loss to the Rams on the road last season.
The Beavers finished with a season-high 17 shots, including seven on-goal. Taylor was one of two players with three shots in the contest while
Amanda Brich led all players with five.
Defensively, BVU held the Rams to nine total shots, but just three on-goal.Â
Maddy Bigalke picked up her second collegiate win after going the distance and posting two saves.
Buena Vista improves to 2-2 overall and will continue its homestand on Tuesday, September 13, when Martin Luther College visits for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
