Men's Soccer Drops Hard Fought 3-1 Match to Rams in Home Opener

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Sept. 10, 2022) - The Buena Vista men's soccer team began its home schedule this afternoon against North Central (Minn.), but the Beavers came up short in a hard fought 3-1 match

It was an emotional day for the BVU program as it also honored the life of its teammate, Evan Edwards, who tragically passed away following an automobile accident this past spring. Edwards' family was on hand for the game, and there was a moment of silence prior to kick-off followed by a halftime presentation which further honored him and presented the family with a practice top.

North Central (2-2) scored two first half goals and added an insurance one early in the second half.  It was a defensive battle throughout with the two teams combining for 16 total shots and just 10 on-goal.

Sophomore Sota Usui put BVU on the board during the 61st minute with his first goal of the year and finished with three of the team's seven overall shots.  Freshman Cody Fuller made his first collegiate start in-goal and went the distance with three goals allowed and four saves.

Buena Vista is now 0-3-1 overall and will remain at home on September 13 to host Martin Luther College at 5:00 p.m.
