MANKATO, Minn. (Sept. 1, 2022) - The Buena Vista women's soccer team was on the road at Bethany Lutheran College on Thursday evening to open the 2022 season, but it was the Vikings scoring three first-half goals and holding BVU to only four total shots, en route to a 4-0 victory.
Bethany Lutheran (1-0) tallied 21 shots overall and scored twice in the first 17:30 of the contest to build the early lead. The Vikings added with just over five minutes left in the opening half before finding the back of the net in the final five minutes of regulation for the final score.
Madyline Taylor recorded two of BVU's four shots with
Amanda Brich posting the team's only shot-on-goal.Â
Madelyn Bigalke went the distance in-goal and saved eight shots overall.
Elena Lujan-Rubio scored two of BLC's three first-half goals and led all players with five total shots Mia Sauler scored once and had four shots overall.
Buena Vista (0-1) will remain on the road to play at Fiinlandia University (Mich.) on Saturday, September 3, for a 9:00 a.m. (CT) kick-off.
