BVU Golf to Add Multiple Part-Time Coaches

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Aug. 16, 2022) – Buena Vista University Head Women's and Men's Golf Coach, Joe Powell, is pleased to announce the addition of part-time coaches Annika Patton and Evan Krause to his staff as his teams get set to begin their respective fall seasons.  The duo joins Cory Grover, who is in his second season on staff and will serve as a men's assistant coach.

Patton will serve as an assistant with the women's program.  She has a wealth of experience and success under her belt after a career as a Division I golfer at the University of Northern Iowa.  A native of Aurelia, Iowa, Patton was a two-time individual state champion in high school (2017 & 2019), earning the Iowa Golf Coaches Association Player of the Year honors both times.  She was a four-year Twin Lakes Conference medalist and a four-year Des Moines Register All-Iowa Elite Team selection.

Krause, meanwhile, will serve as a special assistant to the programs.  He was a four-year member on the BVU men's golf team from 2017-21.  During his career, he played nearly 50 total rounds, shooting a career-best round of 75 as a junior.  In addition to his coaching role, Krause will also serve as General Manager for the Buena Vista University Golf Course at Lake Creek.

"Annika brings a great knowledge of golf to the program being a former Division I women's golfer at UNI and two-time individual state champion," says Powell, who is set to begin his fourth year as head coach. "Evan was a very strong player for BVU in my first two seasons here, has been in the golf industry since graduating, and will be a great help in our off-season training as well as stepping into the general manager role at our home course - BVU Golf Course at Lake Creek. Overall, the men's and women's golf teams are poised to have a very strong 2022-23 season, and I couldn't be happier for where the program is headed."
