DUBUQUE, Iowa (May 14, 2022) - Buena Vista senior
Becca Simpson completed the hat trick of individual American Rivers Conference titles on Saturday afternoon by winning both the javelin throw and hammer throw, respectively, after alreading claiming the shot put title on Friday.
Simpson posted a season-best toss in the javelin on her very first attempt (44.29m) and held on to win the event by over four feet. Teammate
Courtney Johnson also earned all-conference honors in the event with a personal-best heave of 37.46m. Simpson then came up big in the hammer throw, using her first attempt in the finals to move into the top spot and also set a new school record (54.22m) in the process. She would hold on to win the event by 10 inches. Teammate
Anna Friedrichsen gave BVU a pair of all-conference performers in the event with a third-place finish (48.89m). Johnson gave BVU additional team points in the event with a seveth-place effort.
The 4x100 meter relay team took third overall with a time of 48.98 seconds. The team of

Katara Jondle and
Domonique Rivers gave BVU its first all-conference finish in the event since the 2015 team also took third.
Jessica Sump crossed the line in third place during the 100-meter hurdle final in a time of 15.22 seconds.
Jadyn Forbes took runner-up in the 800-meter run with a new school record time of 2:16.94, breaking a record that had stood since 1999.
As a team, the Beavers chalked up 97 total points and moved up one spot from Friday to finish in fourth overall. It marks the program's best outdoor finish since at least 2002 and nearly doubled its highest point total since then.
The championships wrap up the season for BVU with ay national qualifying events competing at the NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships in Geneva, Ohio from May 26-28.
