STORM LAKE, Iowa (April 14, 2022) - The Buena Vista baseball team currently holds the top spot in the American Rivers Conference standings, and is one of three teams with eight conference wins entering the weekend. One of those teams, Wartburg College, visits this weekend for a three-game series against the Beavers starting Friday afternoon.

The Beavers extended their current overall win streak to four games on Tuesday afternoon with a commanding 12-6 road win at Nebraska Wesleyan. BVU built a 12-2 advantage and got a strong start from
Mason Gehling who went 5.2 innings and struck out 13 batters to no walks.
Calvin Harris was 3-for-5 at the plate with a pair of doubles and finished with three RBI.
Logan Mueller also had three hits.
Caden Mathewson and
Zack Beekmann each launched home runs as the Beavers went over 10 runs in a game for the third straight game and the 13th time this season.
ABOUT WARTBURG
The Knights come in having won seven of their last nine games overall, despite a 6-2 loss to Luther College on Monday. Wartburg took the first two games over the Norse last Tuesday. The loss to the Norse followed a three-game weekend series that saw the team take 2-of-3 at home over Dubuque.
During conference play, the team is fifth in the American Rivers Conference with a .286 average and is third with a 4.81 team ERA. Max Goodhue leads the league with a .455 average against league foes, including five doubles, to go with 14 runs scored. Caleb Andrews is fifth in the league overall with .411 average, as Zach Walton leads the team with 11 doubles and five home runs.
On the mound, the Knights have struck out 209 batters on the year while walking only 79. Their pitchers have allowed five runs or less in four of the last seven games. Dylan Gotto's 2.63 overall ERA is ranked fourth in the A-R-C and he leads the team with 48.0 innings pitched and a 4-2 record. Darren Kilpatrick is second in the staff with 37.0 innings and is 3-3 with a 4.86 ERA. That duo has combined for 94 strikeouts and only 21 walks. Aaron Eybers has made a team-leading 12 relief appearances and is 2-1 with a pair of saves over 21.0 innings.
ABOUT BUENA VISTA
The Beavers picked up their second sweep of the year last weekend at Simpson College before pushing their current overall win streak to four with a 12-6 road win at Nebraska Wesleyan on Tuesday afternoon. This weekend marks the team's second home conference series of the year and is also Alumni Weekend.
BVU has boasted the A-R-C's top scoring team so far this season, scoring 105 runs alone during league play (10.5rpg). It is second in those games with 31 doubles and third in hits with 116.
Evan Taylor is hitting a team-best .436 against conference foes with seven doubles, one home run and 16 RBI.
Logan Mueller is right behind with a .406 average and is tied with Taylor in runs (14).
Calvin Harris is third on the team in average during conference play at .378, second in doubles (6) and tied for third in RBI's (12).
Mason Gehling has notched three of the team's eight conference wins on the mound and has a 2.76 ERA over 16.1 innings. He's made just one start over his four appearances and has allowed a total of nine runs while striking out 28 and walking only four.
Morgan Smith is 1-1 with a 3.15 ERA over his three starts. In 20.0 innings, he has allowed 10 runs, struck out 30 and walked six.
Dalton Glenn is 2-0 in conference play and has 24 strikeouts and just one walk over his 19.1 innings, covering three starts.

Buena Vista will continue its home schedule with a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 19, against Nebraska Wesleyan starting at 3:30 p.m. The team will then head to Decorah, Iowa, next weekend for a 3-game series at Luther College (14-9, 6-3) starting on Friday, April 22 at 3:00 p.m.
