ABOUT BVU
The Beavers return home after sweeping Central College to begin A-R-C play.
The sweep was capped off in perfect fashion with the help of Dalton Glenn. The junior pitcher threw the first perfect game in program history, recording a career high 11 strikeouts in the process. In recognition of his masterful performance, Glenn will enter this weekend as the reigning A-R-C Male Athlete of the Week. Glenn was also named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week and has also been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Pitcher of the Week. On the season, Glenn is 1-1 with a 4.44 ERA (13th in A-R-C) with 31 strikeouts (6th in A-R-C) across 24.1 innings of work (9th in A-R-C). Morgan Smith contributed a strong start of his own. The freshman pitcher picked up the win in the series opener, allowing 2 earned runs with 14 strikeouts across 7 innings. Mason Gehling provided the Beavers staff with some valuable innings out of the bullpen in game 2. After a rough start to the game, the junior pitcher helped settle things down allowing no earned runs with 7 strikeouts across 4.2 innings of work. Gehling eventually picked up the win.
The Beavers' lineup will look to build off a strong performance last weekend that saw them score 47 runs across three games. It was a team wide effort with the lineup receiving contributions from top to bottom. One of the performances that stood out was from Logan Mueller. Across three games, the senior infielder hit 0.538 with six runs scored, a homerun, 4 RBIs, and 2 stolen bases. Junior Calvin Harris also stood out recording a multi-hit performance with a RBI in each of the 3 games. On the season, Harris is hitting 0.347 (19th in A-R-C). Some other hitters to keep an eye on this weekend are Joel Garcia and Evan Taylor. Garcia enters the weekend hitting 0.412 (6th in A-R-C) with 2 homeruns (9th in A-R-C) and 30 RBIs (1st in ARC). Taylor enters the weekend hitting 0.415 (5th in A-R-C) with 3 homeruns (5th in A-R-C) with 20 RBIs (6th in A-R-C).Â
