Beaver Volleyball Season Ends with 3-1 Loss in A-R-C Championship Match

Box Score CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Nov. 5, 2022) - The Buena Vista University volleyball team had its season come to an end tonight with a hard fought 3-1 loss to No. 1 seed Coe College in the championship match of the American Rivers Conference Tournament.

It was a tight battle in the early going with the two teams splitting the first two sets. The opener was all tied at 17-17 before the Kohawks closed on an 8-1 run to win the set 25-18. BVU came right back in the second and closed the frame by scoring six of the final nine points en route to a 25-19 triumph. Coe began to take control a bit during the middle of the third, using a 10-2 surge to go in front 18-8 before winning 25-14. It was all Kohawks in the fourth as they held BVU to only seven kills and forcing 10 attack errors to win 25-12.

Junior Rachel Brockney turned in a match-high 17 kills and 15 digs to lead the Beavers while senior Hannah Smith closed out her career with eight kills and 10 digs. Senior Taylor Wedmeyer also played the final match in her illustrious career by moving into second-place on the program's all-time assist list by turning in 37. She walks away with 2,635. Sophomore Courtney Johnson chipped in with a team-leading five total blocks with Molly McCauley and Skylar Cole each posting three. Senior Kaylee Nosbisch also wraps up her career with eight digs in her final outin.

Kate Tidman led the Kohawks (27-5) with 14 kills and 10 digs.

Buena Vista wins seven of their final nine matches on the year to close the book at 13-12 overall.
