STORM LAKE, Iowa - Buena Vista University Valorant squad opened up the playoffs with an exciting come from behind victory over the 8th seed Waldorf Warriors. The squad will continue playoff action on Monday, November 28th against the winner of Concordia-Nebraksa and Robert Morris University with the winner moving into the finals of NECC Navigators Great Plains Division.
The number one seed Beavers found themselves in a battle in the opening round against Waldorf University. In the best of three series the Beavers got off on the wrong foot falling 13-10 in the opening map.
Jackson Trotman led the way for the Beavers with 29 kills in round one while Cameron Germain and
Elizabeth Franken each had 13.
The Beavers regrouped in round two winning 13-2 on the map Bind. Trotman and
Aiden Webber led the way with 19 and 17 kills respectively while
Max Grace finished wth 14.
Pushing the game to a decisive third map the Beavers found themselves in a back and forth battle. The Beavers jumped out to a 4-0 lead on Icebox but the Warriors battled back and to tie it at 11. Having to win by two the Beavers were able to string two round together to finish the Warriors 13-11 and take the series 2-1 moving them on to the next round of the playoffs.
On Icebox Trotman had 29 kills while Franken and Webber had 21 and 19 kills respectively. The Beavers are now 9-0 on the season and will have Thanksgiving week off before continuing play.
