RIVER FALLS, Wis. (November 11, 2022) - Freshman Danika Demers finished with 12 points, 6 rebounds, and two steals for the Buena Vista Women's Basketball team, but it was UW River Falls prevailed with a 78-48 on Friday night.Â
The Beavers played the Falcons close into the waning seconds of the first quarter, but a second quarter run gave the Falcons a double-digit lead (38-26) at the half, and they never looked back from there.
Turnovers and three-point shooting were key differences in the matchup. The Falcons recorded 23 points off turnovers compared to the Beavers 8. From deep, the Falcons shot 32.4% with 12 threes while the Beavers shot 12.5% with two threes.Â
Lindsey Anhalt contributed to BVU's efforts with 8 points, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks, and one steal.Â
Zoey Buchan led the Falcons (1-0) shooting 8-of-16 for 23 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and 4 steals. Buchan was one of three players to score in double digits with Karch and Meredith each scoring 12 and 10.Â
