STORM LAKE, Iowa (Oct. 7, 2022) - The Buena Vista volleyball team was back on its home court for the first time in nearly two weeks on Friday night, and the Beavers turned in a strong offensive showing en route to a 3-1 American Rivers Conference victory over Loras College.

BVU came out with a match-high 17 kills in the opening set and had just three errors as it pulled away for a 25-18 victory. The Beavers then held a 22-18 cushion late in the second set but went cold down the stretch as the Duhawks came all the way back to score the final seven points and even the match at 1-1.

The Beavers picked up the defensive pressure over the final two sets, and held Loras to a .132 hitting percentage in the third and 0.091 in the fourth while taking both sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-15.

Junior Rachel Brockney had a monster night with a match-high 18 kills and to go with 18 digs, three ace serves and a pair of blocks. Sophomore Courtney Johnson and freshman Molly McCauley each added 11 kills. Taylor Wedemeyer tallied 46 assists and 11 digs.

James Keefe led the Duhawks (5-14, 0-3 A-R-C) with 15 kills and 15 digs.

Buena Vista improves to 7-10 overall (2-2 A-R-C) and will be right back on the home court Saturday afternoon to host the Uiversity of Dubuque at 2:00 p.m.
