Monday night
Joshua Tigges took to Laguna Seca in his Buena Vista University Formula 4 car for the West Coast Grand Prix in the Collegiate iRacing League. After a disappointing start to the evening Tigges was able to claw his way back to tie his second-best finish in the series. After a relatively clean start to race 1, Tigges kept pushing the limits of the track too far, catches edges of the dirt to send him spinning multiple times. As race 1 came to a close Tigges crossed the line P21, finishing one spot out of receiving championship points.
Disappointed, Tigges knew he had to develop a new approach to race 2, starting P21 at the back of the pack. After getting a good jump when the lights went out, Tigges took a conservative approach to lap 1, weaving his way through and narrowly missing spinning cars. Ultimately, Tigges emerged P15 after the first lap and ran a complete opposite race compared to the first of the evening. Ultimately running a clean race, Tigges was able to work his way up to P13 as the checkered flag flew on the evening. Although his streak of top-15's came to a close, a new streak started right away. Tigges hopes to elongate this streak and his next chance to do so comes next Monday when he hops back into the Nascar Cup Series car to tackle the unpredictability of Talladega Superspeedway in the Alabama 111.
