Hannah Smith and
Rachel Brockney each finished with 15 kills while
Courtney Johnson followed with 13, and the Buena Vista volleyball team went on the road Friday night and notched a big 3-1 road win at Luther College to run its overall win streak to four.
BVU turned in a strong night with the offensive attack, registering 58 kills and a .274 percentage. Smith's 15 kills were a season-high and her first double-digit total in over a month. Brockney added eight digs and a pair of ace serves to her stat line while Johnson had just two errors and a stellar .424 percentage.
Molly McCauley chipped in wih six kills and a team-high four ace serves.
Taylor Wedemeyer dished out 47 assists and added seven digs.
Molly Bense chalked up 14 digs to help lead BVU defensively, while Smith addd 10.
The opening set was back-and-forth throughout with neither side building more than a two-point lead until the Beavers rolled off the final three points for the 25-21 win. The Norse (6-17, 1-5 A-R-C) came back with a strong second stanza to even the match. Luther then held an 11-10 advantage in the middle of the third set before the Beavers caught fire with a 10-1 run that put them up 23-15, as they won 25-18. The fourth set was tied at 13-13, and that's when BVU scored seven straight to cap an 11-1 run en route to a 25-15 victory,
Buena Vista is back to .500 overall at 10-10 while running its A-R-C record to 4-2. The Beavers travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Saturday afternoon to face No. 23 Coe College at 1:00 p.m.
