STORM LAKE, Iowa (Oct. 19, 2022) - The Buena Vista men's soccer team hosted Central College on a chilly night inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium on Wednesday, but the Beavers came up on the short end of a strong defensive battle with the Dutch, 3-0.
Central wasted little time going in front as Joe Brown and Trysten Vasquez dished out passes to Alejo Marcon, who put the shot attempt passed a diving
Cody Fuller with just under three minutes gone by to give the Dutch a 1-0 lead. The Dutch added to that lead nearly eight minutes later on a give-and-go from Matthew West to Nathan Casas.Â
BVU buckled down defensively, and that's how the game stood until the final minutes when Brown scored from right in front of the goal off a pass from West with just over 2:00 left in the contest.
Central (3-9-2, 2-3-1 A-R-C) finished the match with 16 total shots while BVU was held to four. Casas had a team-high three attempts with two on-goal. Four different players turned in one shot for BVU, including
Connor Williams and
Jacob Kirchner, who put theirs on-goal.
Each goalkeeper went the distance with BVU's
Cody Fuller turning in six shots and Central's John Foster adding two.
Buena Vista is now 0-13-2 on the year (0-6 A-R-C) and will wrap up its home schedule on Saturday, October 22, against Loras College in a match set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
