DECORAH, Iowa (Oct. 1, 2022) - Buena Vista freshman
Madyline Taylor scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season just before the end of the first half, but the women's soccer team couldn't overcome a 3-0 deficit and fell on the road to Luther College on Saturday, 4-1.
The Norse scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the contest and added a third goal midway through the opening half. Taylor found the back of the next with under two minutes left before halftime which was one of just two shots for the Beavers in the half, and just the second goal the team has scored against Luther sinc 2014.
It was a defensive battle for much of the second half until Luther capped the scoring with the final goal during the 86th minute.
Luther (5-3-2, 1-0-1 A-R-C) recorded 29 shots overall in the contest as BVU finished with six.
Amanda Brich and
Chloe Lippert each tallied two shots with both of Lippert's coming on-goal.
Maddy Bigalke played the first 47 minutes in-goal and allowed three goals and had five saves.
Trisha Westphal played the final 41 minutes and allowed the final goal and had seven saves.
Buena Vista is now 4-6 overall (0-2 A-R-C). The team is set to travel to Simpson College on Oct. 5 for a 7:30 p.m. match with the Storm.
