STORM LAKE, Iowa (March 4, 2021) - The Buena Vista volleyball is looking to bounce back from its first loss of the season when it goes on the road Friday night for an American Rivers Conference match at Wartburg College.

ABOUT THE KNIGHTS
Wartburg is coming off its first conference loss of the year at the hands of Dubuque on Wednesday night on its home court.  The Knights held a 2-1 lead but the Spartans rallied back.  All five sets were decided within four points, including a 29-27 Dubuque triumph in the second set and a thrilling 15-13 ending in the decisive fifth set.  Junior Kennedy Meister lead the way for Wartburg with 24 kills and  strong .347 attack percentage.  She's currently ranked fourth in the league, averaging 3.56 kills per set. Senior Katie Foster, the reigning A-R-C MVP and Defensive Player of the Year chimed in with 34 digs.  Wartburg is ranked second in the league in attack percentage this season (.248) while holding teams to just a .157 percentage which is third-best.  Zaiah Quirk leads all players in the A-R-C in kills per set (3.93).  Foster, meanwhile, leads the conference in digs per contest (6.50).  The Knights have won the last five regular season conference championships.

ABOUT BUENA VISTA 
The Beavers look to bounce back from their first loss of the year after falling at home last Saturday to visiting Coe College in three sets.  BVU was held to a .104 attack percentage in the match despite hitting over .200 as a team and still ranking third in the A-R-C.  Junior Sydney McLaren and freshman Rachel Brockney each tallied eight kills to lead the charge offensively.  McLaren is currently ranked sixth in kills per set (3.20).  Brockney is second on the team at 2.40.  Sophomore Taylor Wedemeyer is sitting second in the league in assists per set (10.30).  McLaren is also leading the team in digs per set (3.10) with junior Jade Hays right behind at 3.00.  BVU will be looking for its second road win of the year in as many attempts after knocking off Nebraska Wesleyan in four sets last Wednesday night in Lincoln.
