Storm Lake, Iowa (March 13, 2021) - The Buena Vista baseball team will take the field as it is set to take on Hamline University in Storm Lake on Saturday afternoon.? This will be the home opener for the Beavers as they look to bounce back from a tough three-game losing streak.

Saturday marks the 19th meeting all-time between the two programs with the series tied at a 9-9 record overall...The series dates back to the 1993 campaign where Hamline picked up a double-header win in the inaugural match-up...BVU has won 3 of the last 5 contests, including 3 straight dating back to the 2017 campaign...BVU's last win over the Pipers was a 4-2 triumph in Topeka, Kansas on February 23, 2020.

LAST TIME OUT 
The Beavers lost a trio of games in Topeka against Westminster College, including a 10-9 setback in the third game of the weekend series on February 28th.?BVU took a lead in the second inning after falling behind early in the 1st. Westminster came out and scored 3 runs in the opening frame. After a long second inning, BVU had taken the lead 4-3. It wasn't until the 5th and 6th innings that Westminster had pulled away with the lead, scoring three runs in consecutive innings. A late surge in the 7th inning from the Beavers was not enough to retake the lead. 

 
ABOUT BUENA VISTA 
BVU will play its first home contest of the season.?Through the first three games of the regular season, the team has a .229 BA. One bright spot for the Beavers was the 17 runs batted in on just 25 hits as a team. The pitching staff has allowed a .266 BA while posting a 7.27 ERA. Sophomore Calvin Harris is leading the charge with a .375 BA with a double and triple to his name as well.  Easton Bahr is hitting .286 with a pair of doubles and a team-high three RBI. Senior Tyler Stoltze leads the team with 21 putouts on top of throwing one runner stealing. Sophomore Mason Gehling has worked a team-high 5 IP and has recorded 8 strikeouts to just 2 BB and 1 ER. Tyler Tennyson has nine K's through just four innings.

 
ABOUT THE PIPERS 
Hamline University will be taking the field for the third time this season after picking up a double header win vs. Crown at U.S. Bank Stadium. This comes after the team started just 3-6 before play was suspended last season.  Cullen Buck is off to a torrid start, going 5-for-6 in the opening DH with a double and two RBI.  He also swiped three bases.  Logan Tollefson is 3-for-6 with a double and two RBI while Colton Peters also has three base hits and is hitting .429.  Will Tzavaras and Braden Schneider each picked up wins on the mound over Crown with neither allowing an earned run.  The team has an ERA of 2.00 with 17 strikeouts and seven walks.

 
UP NEXT 
BVU is scheduled to take on Simpson in a pair of double headers on March 19th and 20th in Storm Lake.
