STORM LAKE, Iowa - Buena Vista University Esports had another busy night on Monday, February 15 as Rainbow Six competed in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) against Central Methodist 2 and Madden players
Kyle Miller,
Nico Flores and
Derien Beauregard continued play in the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) Madden PS league.
The Rainbow Six squad had their best showing of the years as they were streamed and broadcasted against Central Methodist in the NECC league. The Beavers got down 5-2 on the first map Consulate but showed some grit and determination battling back from the attackers side winning three rounds in a row tying the game 5-5. CMU would go up 6-5 from the defenders side of the map before the Beavers tied it up at 6 forcing overtime in the first map. CMU won the next two rounds on Consulate in overtime taking map one 8-6.
Highlights of the map was when BVU had a flawless victory in the first round of the map eliminating all the CMU's players without losing a single player.
Michael Melohn also an ace meaning he eliminated all players from the opposing team by himself. In the round the Beavers were led by
Theing Soe with 15 kills while
Aaron Pluym and Melohn had 14 and 11 respectively.
Abigail Kraft ended with six while
Nathanael Reusch end with two.
BVU struggled in the second map Clubhouse falling 7-0 against CMU. Once against the Beavers were led by Soe with 6 kills and Pluym with five. The Beavers fall to 0-2 in NECC play and will play St. Ambrose University next week at 5 pm on Monday, February 22.
The Beavers went 1-2 last night in Madden competition.
Nico Flores improved his record to 3-0 in dominating fashion winning 31-21 and 34-8 against his opponent from Chowan University. Flores played with the New Orleans Saints and used the run game and suffocating defense to take the victories. In game one Flores had three interceptions and pounded the rock with Alvin Kamara. Game two was similar with a dominating ground game taking the life out of his opponent. Flores will try and move to 4-0 next week as he plays against akempen of Milwaukee School of Engineering at 7 pm on Monday, February 22.
Miller played three tight games against his opponent from Eastern University. Miller fell in a tight game one 23-18 before picking up a 21-14 victory in game to forcing a deciding game three. In game two Miller jumped out to a 21-0 lead and hung on 21-14. In game three Miller was going in to make the score 14-0 but an interception by his opponent kept the score 7-0. Eastern University continued to use solid defense intercepting Miller three more times in the game getting the match deciding victory 30-24. Miller falls to 1-2. Miller has a bye next week and will return to action on Monday, March 1 against Godz_DocHoliday of Boise State University at 7 pm.
Beauregard played two tight games with his opponent from Shenandoah University. Game one was a back and forth battle against but ultimately Beauregard's Packers fell 28-25 against the Chiefs. In game two Beauregard played with the Packers once again while his opponent played with the Buccaneers. Deebo got down 30-10 and stormed back making the games 30-23 but couldn't get a last minute defensive stand falling to the Buccs. Beauregard falls to 1-2. Deebo plays against DaddyO of West Virginia University - Potomac State College at 7 pm on Monday, February 22.
