STORM LAKE, Iowa (February 13, 2021) - For the second straight week the Buena Vista women's track & field team got to compete on its own surface, and on Saturday the Beavers came away with a second-place overall team finish in an American Rivers Conference Triangular against both Wartburg College and Simpson College.
BVU had a number of top-three finishes on the day.Â
Jessica Sump took second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.49 seconds which moves her into fourth on the program's all-time list. That betters her time from last week by one-half of a second.Â
Tabitha Guyett was runner-up in the 400-meter dash (1:03.17) and was champion in the long jump (5.10m) which is fourth-best all-time. BVU held four of the top-five place finishes in the 400.
The Beavers held five of the top-eight finishes in the 60-meter dash, led by Dominique Rivers (3rd, 8.35). Senior
Emily Hoesing was edged late in the 3,000-meter run and took second in a time of 10:43.02 which was nine seconds faster than a week ago.
Madison Trimpe turned in a personal best mark in the shot put and placed third overall (11.73m). Becca Simpsin, who won the event a week ago was right behind in fourth. Freshman Anna Brennan (11.55m) went well past her debut mark of a week ago to come in fifth. The Beavers took three of the top-five places in the event. Simpson led BVU in the weight throw with a toss of 15.90 meters which surpassed her winning mark of last week. Freshman
Skylar Cole came in fourth in the high jump (1.45m).
The 4x400 relay closed the book on a successful day with a second-place finish in a time of 4:17.02 which was slightly faster than its clocking of a week ago.
Buena Vista will be back in action next Saturday as the team travels to the University of Dubuque Triangular to compete against the host Spartans and Coe College.
