PREVIEW: Football Looks for Back-to-Back Wins as it Travels to Simpson on Saturday

STORM LAKE, Iowa (October 22, 2021) - The Buena Vista University football team is looking to make it back-to-back conference wins and move above the .500 mark as it goes back on the road Saturday afternoon to square-off with Simpson College.

LAST WEEK: The Beavers put together their best overall performance of the season and came away with a convincing 50-7 Homecoming victory over Nebraska Wesleyan.  BVU had a balanced attack by rushing for a season-high 255 yards and passing for 306 more.  Sophomore quarterback Brandon Kyles completed 22-of-28 pass attempts for 285 yards and three scores and also carried the ball 14 times for 89 more.  Keaton Huebner piled up 61 rushing yards, including his seventh rushing touchdown of the year which is second-most in the A-R-C this season.  The Beaver defense held the Prairie Wolves to only 104 yards of total offense with nearly half of that coming on their final drive of the game when they scored their only points.  

Inside the Series - Simpson leads the all-time series, 39-33-1…The first-ever match-up was back in 1927 when Simpson edged BVU, 7-0, in a game played in Storm Lake…The two teams have played every year since 1954 (except for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic)…The Storm have won five straight meetings with the last coming in 2019, 46-0, in Indianola…BVU’s last win over Simpson was a 38-31 victory in Storm Lake in 2014…The Beavers have not win in Indianola since 2013 when it topped the Storm 34-32 on a Bobby Brown 4-yard TD run as time expired…Simpson has scored over 40 points in four of the last five match-ups/

About Simpson - The Storm picked up their first win of the season on October 9 by defeating Luther in Indianola, 68-34. Simpson is ranked eighth in the A-R-C this season overall, averaging 22.0ppg, but sits eighth during league play, allowing over 44.0ppg. Hunter Ogle is ranked eighth overall in the A-R-C in rushing yards per game (60.7). The Storm are ranked second during A-R-C play in passing yards per game (298.2).  Quarterback Brett Bobinet has thrown for 1,170 yards and 10 touchdowns in five league games.
