After shooting 50 percent from the field in the first half, the Beavers tapered off in the second, going only 30.7 percent overall but was still able to maintain the 20-point margin throughout the half by holding the Norse to only six made field goals.
The Beavers jumped out to an early 11-point lead before Luther cut into that cushion and got back as close as three at 21-18. Jeffries then responded with a pair of three-point buckets during a stretch that pushed the lead back to 31-21. The team maintained that advantage with Jeffries hitting a pair of free-throws late in the half to give the Beavers their largest lead of the half, 44-29, heading into the break.
That momentum carried over into the second half as the team came out and scored the first six points of the second half to push the margin up to 20 and the Beavers maintained that cushion the rest of the way.
Aaron Blumberg lead Luther (4-8, 0-3 A-R-C) with 13 points.
Buena Vista improves to 11-2 overall (2-2 A-R-C) and will travel to Loras College (10-3, 3-1 A-R-C) on Wednesday night for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
