STORM LAKE, Iowa (January 31, 2020) - The Buena Vista men's indoor track & field team is back in action this weekend, hosting the annual Dennis Young Classic inside of the Lamberti Rec Center on the BVU campus. The two-day event gets underway with the multi-events on Friday, January 31, at 5 p.m.
The full schedule of events takes place on Saturday, February 1, beginning with the start of field events at 10 a.m. The first running event of the weekend is set for 12:30 p.m.
This year's field is made up of eight teams: Buena Vista, Briar Cliff, Dordt, Grand View, Morningside, Mount Marty, Northwestern (Iowa), Southwestern CC.
BVU kicked-off its indoor season last Friday at the Prairie Wolf Invite, hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan.
Max Murphy and Collin Imhoff each posted the high finishes for the team with Murphy taking seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with Imhoff placing seventh in the 1,000-meter run. Murphy currently holds the fastest time in the A-R-C this season at 8.18 seconds.
Lane Jellison had a strong start to the year by taking sixth in the weight throw and ninth in the shot put. He's currently ranked in the top-8 of the conference in both events. Garret Bates (pole vault) has the second-best mark in the league at 4.29 meters set last at NWU last week.
Following their performances this weekend, the Beavers will gear up for next weekend's USD Invite on Feb. 7-8, up in Vermillion, S.D.
