STORM LAKE, Iowa (January 29, 2020) - Buena Vista held a slim 43-42 halftime lead over No. 9 Nebraska Wesleyan on Wednesday night, but the Prairie Wolves used nine second half three-pointers to help left them to a 97-80 victory inside of Siebens Fieldhouse.
It was only the third time all season that NWU (17-2, 10-0 A-R-C) had trailed at intermission, but BVU couldn't keep the momentum going out of the break. NWU made 7-of-11 attempts from long range over the first 10 minutes of the half which broke the game open at 81-59 with 9:22 to play. BVU struggled from deep all night, going just 7-of-28, and were never able to make a big enough run down the stretch. Junior
Michael Demers, who hit a career-high seven from beyond the arc in his last outing one week ago, hit one of his three in this contest to pull the team within 15 with 6:05 still to play and another just minutes later than pulled it back as close as 13. That proved to be as close as the team could get down the stretch as the lead for NWU went back up to 20 with just over two minutes remaining.
