The Beavers held an early 13-point first quarter lead at Dubuque on Saturday afternoon, but the Spartans rallied all the way back to tie the game at 29-29 going into the half and would outscore the BVU by 12 in the third quarter to hand the team a 76-63 conference defeat. Sophomore
Nicole Lange scored a career-high 24 points to lead the Beavers.
SERIES OUTLOOK
Wednesday night's match-up will be the 85th meeting all-time between the two programs with the Storm holding a 52-32 advantage. Simpson was victorious 68-48 in the first game ever played back in 1976-77. The Storm swept the Beavers last season after the two team's split their regular season match-ups in each of the three previous years. BVU's last win over Simpson was a 74-62 triumph inside SIebens Fieldhouse in 2017-18. BVU is 4-1 over Simpson at home in the last five games played between the two sides in Storm Lake.
SCOUTING SIMPSON
The Storm are currently on a seven-game overall win streak, including wins over both Nebraska Wesleyan (103-55) and Central (72-59) last week. They're tied with Luther for the second longest current win streak in the league behind only Loras (8). Simpson's last loss came at home to the Duhawks (85-80) back on December 7. During its current streak, Simpson has scored over 80 points five times and has surpassed the 100-point mark in two of its five league games overall. It's one of four teams averaging better than 80.0ppg during conference on the year and is ranked fourth in scoring defense at 65.8ppg. Only fifth-ranked Wartburg (58) has made more three-point shots against American Rivers Conference foes than Simpson (44) with the Storm also ranked second at 36.1 percent. Cassie Chubb (14.6ppg) and Cameron Kincaid (14.2ppg) are each ranked in the top-10 of the league in scoring with Chubb also sitting third in rebounding (8.0rpg) and second in three-point makes per game (2.8). Kincaid is second in field goal percentage at 55.8 percent with Claire Johnson sitting fourth in steals per contest (3.6). Â
ABOUT BUENA VISTA
The Beavers are shooting 41.5 percent from the field over the last five games, including 33 percent from downtown, but has scored over 65 points just once in that span.Â
Destiny Einerwold has scored in double figures for the team in 14 of the 15 games ands leads the way, averaging 16.5ppg.Â
Erin Gerke is next at 11.8ppg. That duo has also combined for 34 of the team's 80 made three-point buckets this season. Einerwold is also a regular shooter at the free-throw line, averaging 7.1 attempts per contest and is shooting 75.7 percent overall. Gerke leads the team in nearly 3.0 assists per game as well as 2.4 steals per game.Â
Jennifer Schneider is third on the team in scoring (8.3) and is averaging 5.5 rebounds per game. BVU is shooting 36.5 percent from the field overall this season and averaging 59.2 points per contest.
