STORM LAKE - Buena Vista juniors
Gage Smart and
Bryce Rheault have again added to their postseason accomplishments by now earning Second Team All-American honors by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
The duo last week were named Second Team and Honorable Mention All-Americans, respectively, by D3baseball.com, making them the eighth and ninth players to earn all-american status in program history. The last player to earn recognition from both teams was Neil Marshall in 2016.
Smart and Rheault were again the only American Rivers Conference players to earn recognition.
The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.
