Beavers Pick up 10th Win after Rolling to 105-52 Victory against Faith Baptist

STORM LAKE, Iowa (December 12) - Junior Michael Demers led five players in double figures with a career-high 23 points as the Buena Vista men's basketball team scored 61 in the second half and rolled to a 105-52 non-conference victory over Faith Baptist Bible College on Thursday night inside of Siebens Fieldhouse for its 10th win of the year.

Demers was 8-of-13 from the field, including 4-of-8 from downtown, as he surpassed his previous high mark of 21 points set earlier this season against Willamette.  He also went on to also set a career-best with eight assists and matched his career-high with eight rebounds.  Fellow junior Lincoln Rock chimed in with 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists, Noah Schmitt scored 11 while Joe Lind and Brendan Gary each added 10.

All 14 players who saw the court scored at least one point for a Beaver team that shot 49.4 percent from the field.  After going just 3-of-17 in the first half, the Beavers knocked down nine long range buckets in the second en route to a 61-point outburst.

Nathan Keck led the Eagles with 25 points and was their only player in double figures.  The Beavers held them to just 30.9 percent shooting and 5-of-20 from beyond the arc.

It was all BVU from the opening tip.  The team scored the first nine points and led by double digits following a layup by Noah Schmitt only two minutes and forty seconds into the game.  The Beavers led by double-digits the rest of the way.  It was 23-4 with 14:03 left in the half as BVU went onto a 44-22 halftime advantage.

The lead reached 30 on a layup by Lind just six minutes into the second half, and the Beavers never looked back.  They finished with 38 points off of turnovers and scored 22 fast break points.  They forced a season-high 33 turnovers and committed 15.

BVU (10-1) on the year has now won eight straight games inside of Siebens Fieldhouse, dating back to last season.  This marks the final game of the calendar year for the team which is now off until after the holiday break.  It returns to action on Thursday, January 2, 2020 by hosting Coe College at 7:30 p.m.  This is a make-up game that was originally scheduled for November 22 before being postponed due to weather.
