INDIANOLA, Iowa (November 30, 2019) - Senior Desitny Einerwold scored a team-high 15 points and was the only Beaver to reach double figures on Saturday during the team's 73-58 loss to Concordia-Moorhead on the final day of the Simpson College Thanksgiving Classic.
Einerwold did the bulk of her work at the charity stripe, making 11-of-13 attempts. She also grabbed four rebounds and was named to the All-Tournament Team.Â
Jennifer Schneider turned in nine points and hauled in a team-leading seven rebounds,
Emily Newton added a career-high eight points while
Vanessa Hamlett and
Erin Gerke each chipped in with seven points. Gerke also chipped in with five assists and four steals.
Concordia led 18-8 at the end of the first quarter and extended the margin to 40-25 at the half. The Cobbers then used a 14-5 run to start the second half and built a 28-point lead. The Beavers slowly tried to chip away at that lead and got back within 13 late in the fourth quarter but couldn't get any closer.
Autumn Thompson scored a game-high 19 points, including five long range treys, to lead Concordia which improved to 2-4 overall. The Cobbers shot at least 40 percent from the field in all four quarters and finished the game at 46.6 percent. They made 9-of-23 from downtown (39 percent) and 10-of-13 from the free-throw line.
The Beavers made it to the charity stripe 30 times in the contest, making 21, but were held to just 33 percent shooting from the field and 5-of-22 from downtown.
Buena Vista (1-6) will travel to Nebraska Wesleyan on Wednesday, December 4, to begin American Rivers Conference play against the Prairie Wolves at 5:30 p.m.
