SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (November 21, 2019) - The Buena Vista men's basketball team shot 43 percent from downtown in the game and outscored Augustana (S.D.) in the second half, but the Vikings were just too tough in the end, handing the Beavers a 110-89 defeat in a game that was an exhibition contest for BVU.
Both teams had success from beyond the arc, combining for 28 made treys in the contest, including a 12-of-28 effort by the Beavers. Augustana made just four more field goals overall than the Beavers, but did outscore the team, 24-15 at the charity stripe.
The Vikings went 10-of-18 from long range in the opening half and shot nearly 60 percent from the field overall to build a 22-point lead (64-42) at the half. BVU tried to stay within striking distance over the final 20 minutes, shooting 49 percent from the field and outscoring the Vikings, 47-46. Augustana did lead by as many as 31 with just over three minutes to play.

Michael Demers turned in a team-high 14 points and grabbed four rebounds while fellow junior
Lincoln Rock added 13 points and three steals.Â
Dominic Sesma chimed in with nine points as BVU had 15 different players with at least two points in the game.
Matt Todd led all scorers with 34 points for the Vikings, who improved to 4-1 on the year with the win. He finished with seven made three-pointers and was 11-of-16 shooting overall. Augustana had four players score in double figures and had seven different players make at least one from downtown.
Buena Vista will return to action on Saturday afternoon as it looks to remain perfect on the year when it hosts the University of Northwestern in a non-conference game that tips-off at 3 p.m. inside of Siebens Fieldhouse.
