Box Score 2 GRINNELL - The Buena Vista volleyball team wrapped up its regular season on Saturday with a pair of non-conference matches at Grinnell College. The Beavers fell to the host Pioneers in four sets to begin the day before suffering a 3-0 sweep to Illinois College to wrap things up.
Grinnell (24-4) picked up a convincing 25-16 win to begin the match before BVU pulled even after a 25-23 triumph. The Pioneers, however, were just too much in the end and picked up 25-14 and 25-20 victories to close things out. Grinnell had double-digit kills in all four sets while BVU did so just one, posting 13 kills in the second.
Hannah Smith had a team-leading 12 kills and only three errors to help lead the attack for BVU.
Camryn McClintock was next in line with nine while adding eight digs.
Summer Goss chalked up a team-high 22 digs with
Kaylee Nosbisch right behind at 17.
Freshman
Kaitie Serkiz had eight kills against Illinois College as BVU had just 23 total in the match. McClintock had five kills to go along with five ace serves and four digs. Goss came up with 15 digs and sits just three away from taking over as the program's all-time leader in digs.
Taylor Wedemeyer had 27 assists against Grinnell before just seven against IC.
Buena Vista dips to 11-17 overall and will turn its focus to the American Rivers Conference Tournament which begins on Tuesday, November 5, with BVU traveling to the University of Dubuque for a 7 p.m. contest.
