Beavers Look to Even A-R-C Record with Win at Central on Wednesday

STORM LAKE - The Buena Vista men's basketball team notched a big bounce back win at home over Luther College on Saturday afternoon, and now the Beavers will look to keep that momentum going as they look to even their American Rivers Conference record with a road win at Central on Wednesday night.

About Central - The Dutch have dropped three straight games and four of their last five overall heading into Wednesday night's contest.  Their coming off a 102-85 home loss against Wartburg College on Saturday afternoon after falling at home to the University of Dubuque, 93-74, one week ago.  The team's lone conference win this season came on the road at Coe College, 87-73, back on December 5.  Aside from its last two losses, the Dutch have been right in each of their league games this season, including just an eight-point road loss against defending national champion, Neb. Wesleyan, in this year's A-R-C opener.  Jaden Moody has helped lead an offensive attack with 17.4 points per game while Seth Wood follows at 14.1 points.  Wood is also leading the way with 8.9 rebounds.  He's shooting nearly 40 percent from the field overall and is over 40 percent from downtown while making a team-high 39 treys on the year.  As a team, the Dutch are averaging over 81 points per contest and shooting 45 percent from the field during conference play.  Defensively, however, the team is allowing nearly 100 points per contest against league foes, with teams shooting nearly 50 percent overall from the field and 40.4 percent from beyond the arc.

Buena Vista - The Beavers bounced back on Saturday afternoon with a hard-fough 89-81 home victory against Luther College.  BVU led by double-digits for the majority of the second half before the Norse made a lat surge over the final five minutes.  The Beavers are 6-2 on their home court this season, but are playing just their third road game during conference play this season when they take on the Dutch.  Timothy Jeffries, who scored a career-high 29 points agains the Norse while chalking up is first career double-double, continues to lead the team in scoring at 13.8 points per game.  He's shooting over 52 percent from the field and 38 percent from downtown.  Robert Hawkins is chipping in with 10.9 points per game and leads the way in rebounding at 5.3 per contest and in assists (2.7) and steals (1.7) per game.  As a team, the Beavers are scoring over 80 points per game overall, but have been held under 80 points in three of their five league games.  It is averaging 11.1 three-point makes per game overall, but only 8.4 per contest during A-R-C action.

Up Next:  The Dutch will go on the road for the first time in 2019 when they play at Luther College on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.  The Beavers, meanwhile, will play their second straight road game when they travel to the University of Dubuque that same day.
