Women's Tennis Drops Home Match to Central

Box Score

The Buena Vista women's tennis team returned home for only the second time all season on Wednesday afternoon, hosting Central College in an American Rivers Conference contest, but it was the Dutch picking up an 8-1 victory.

BVU got another singles victory from senior Emma Hartz, who came back to win in a thrilling three-set match at No. 1 singles.  Hartz dropped the opening set, 6-1, but stormed right back to notch a 6-2 win and force the tiebreaker.  That set came down to the wirte, but Hartz was able to hang on in the end with a 10-8 triumph.  She has now won consecutive singles outings and improves to 2-4 on the year.

Central (6-4, 3-2 A-R-C)swept all three doubles matches played, and won in straight sets in each of its five singles victories, while not allowing a single point in three of those.

Senior Jessica Denholm made her Beaver debut on the tennis court and played at No. 6 singles and partnered with Anna Kopf at No. 3 doubles.

Buena Vista dips to 0-6 overall (0-4 A-R-C) and will return to action this Saturday for conference road matches at Wartburg College (9:00am) and at Luther College (3:00pm)
