Box Score The Buena Vista soccer team went on the road Friday night looking to get into the win column during American Rivers Conference play, but the bid came up short, as Coe College handed the Beavers a tough 7-0 setback.
Coe entered the match at 1-3 in conference play and wasted little time getting on the board first. The Kohawks took a 1-0 lead less than nine minutes into the match and went on to add two more first half goals for a 3-0 lead at the break.
The Kohawks (9-5-1, 2-3 A-R-C) then broke the match wide open with four goals over the first seven minutes of the second half, as they handed BVU its ninth straight loss overall this season.
Coe finished with 20 total shots in the contest while holding the Beavers to four. Sierra Keese, McKenna Whitehill and Ella Wiebusch all registered a shot-on-goal.
Katie Voortmann got the start in-goal and played the first 55-plus minutes before handing the duties onto McKeely Tjaden for the rest of the way. Voortmann tallied four saves in the contest with Tjaden adding one.
Buena Vista drops to 1-11 on the year (0-5 A-R-C) and returns home to host Central College on October 17 starting at 5:00 p.m.
