Oberlin Hands BVU an 8-2 Loss on Wednesday

Playing its final contest before opening up Iowa Conference play on Friday afternoon, the Buena Vista baseball team faced Oberlin College for the second time in three days, but its was the Yeomen coming out on top this time around, 8-2.

BVU fell behind 1-0 before its first at-bat before the Yeomen broke things open with four runs in the third.

Kolby Hilgenberg put the Beavers on the board in the fourth with a solo home run to left.  He finished 2-for-4 and was the only player with multiple hits in the game for the Beavers.

Oberlin added to its lead with three more runs in the eighth before BVU capped the scoring by plating the final run on a balk in the home half.

Tyler Vorrie got the start on the mound for the Beavers and pitched four innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on eight hits.  He struck out two and walked one.

Tate Holmes fanned four batters in his three scoreless innings of work in relief while Andrew Bower gave up just one hit and struck out one to close things out.

Buena Vista sits at 7-6 on the year and will now begin league play in Tucson, Ariz., with a three-game weekend series against Luther College.  Game one of the series is Friday afternoon at 3:00pm CST.
