Box Score Junior Jade Schaap registered 15 kills and Ali Grein followed with 11, as the Buena Vista volleyball team turned in an overpowering night offensively during a 3-0 Iowa Conference over Simpson College on Tuesday night inside of Siebens Fieldhouse.
The Beavers, playing in front of a large boisterous crowd, came out of the gate strong from the opening set with a match-high 14 kills and a .290 attack percentage. The team had only 10 hitting errors all night while closing with 12 kills in each of the final two sets.
BVU pulled away early in the first two sets, and then had to put a string of points together toward the end of the third to close out the sweep.
Schaap posted an attack percentage of .364 while Grein posted an .846 on only 13 attempts.
Maddie Bardole chipped in with eight kills and eight digs, Ashley Pelton and Kylie Roe each dished out 14 assists, and Sydnee Donnelli recorded a match-high 16 digs.
Hannah Lester turned in a team-best seven kills for the Storm, who dropped to 0-2 in conference play.
Buena Vista puts an end to its two-match losing skid and improves to 9-5 overall and 1-0 in IIAC play. It's also the 11th win in the last 14 home matches and the third straight against the Storm.
The Beavers go after their 10th win of the year when they take part in the IIAC/NACC Crossover this Friday and Saturday in Waverly, Iowa. BVU begins play against Lakeland on Friday afternoon at 1:00pm before taking on Concordia (Wis.) at 5:00pm.
The blue and gold return to IIAC play next Tuesday night with a road match at Nebraska Wesleyan.
