Volleyball Falls Twice on Final Day of Wartburg Invite

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The Buena Vista volleyball team had its three match win streak snapped on Saturday when the Beavers were handed a pair of 3-0 losses to wrap up play at the Wartburg College Invite.

In the opener against Saint Benedict, both teams registered 11 kills in the first set but it was nine errors that hindered the Beavers during a 25-14 loss.  SBU had just one error in the set while posting a .435 percentage.

The offense struggled for BVU again in the second and third sets as the Beavers were held to less than a .100 hitting percentage in each one en route to 25-14 and 25-16 losses, respectively.

Junior Jade Schaap had a team-high eight kills in the match with senior Maddie Bardole next with seven.  Ashley Pelton had 11 assists and was one of four players with six digs.  Kylie Roe dished out a team-high 16 assists and also had six digs.

The Beavers were looking to bounce back against Augsburg to end the day but again struggled to get any rhythmn going offensively.

BVU had just 16 kills combined in the first two sets before posting 12 in the third set while posting its highest attack percentage of the day (.290).

Bardole had 10 kills and six digs to help lead the way.  Schaap was held to only four but did turn in nine digs, defensively.  Roe had 11 assists and Pelton 10 while combining for 14 digs.

Buena Vista (8-5) now plays its home opener and Iowa Confernece opener on Tuesday night when it hosts Simpson College inside of Siebens Fieldhouse at 7:30pm.
