Grinnell College scored a pair of goals within the first 15 minutes of Sunday afternoon's non-conference women's soccer match inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium, and that was all the Pioneers needed, as they handed Buena Vista a 2-0 loss.

Carolyn Silverman scored both Grinnell goals over a five-minute span early in the first half.  She put the Pioneers on the board during the seventh minute before coming back five minutes later to push the margin to two.

The Beavers got a pair of shot-on-goal attempts by Caroline Maher and two more shot attempts by Samantha Arnold that just missed.

Overall, the Pioneers (1-3-1) held a 14-9 advantage in shots, including a narrow 6-5 mark on-goal.

Rachel Novotny made her first start of the year and went the distance, posting four saves.

Buena Vista, now 1-1-1 on the year, looks to get back on track when it travels to Dordt College on Wednesday night for a 5:00pm start.
