The Buena Vista women's soccer team went on the road Saturday afternoon to play the first of its final two matches of the year, but the Beavers came up just short of their first win during Iowa Conference play as they fell, 1-0, at Coe College.

It was a defensive battle from the start, despite Coe holding a wide 14-2 advantage in total shots. 

Coe (10-7-1, 3-4 IIAC) broke a scoreless match late in the first half with the only goal of the match in the 38'.

Rachel Novotny was the hard-luck loser in-goal for the Beavers, allowing just the one goal and posting seven saves.

Buena Vista (3-12-1, 0-7 IIAC) wraps up the season on Tuesday night when it travels to Simpson College for a 5:00pm match.
