Box Score Grinnell College scored during the 108' of play on Wednesday afternoon to hand the Buena Vista women's soccer team a heartbreaking 1-0 loss.
Despite being outshot 26-5 in the contest, the Beavers battled defensively and nearly came away with its third shutout of the year. Sophomore Caroline Maher led BVU on the offensive end with four of the five shots, including three on-goal. She nearly sent the Beavers home victorious at the end of regulation as she got past everyone and went 1-on-1 with the keeper, but her shot from the top of the key just before time expired went just right.
The teams combined for three shots in the first overtime before the Pioneers converted on their third shot of the second overtime at the 108:41 mark.
Rachel Novotny was again solid in-goal, coming up with 15 saves on the 16 shots she faced.

The team returns to action on Friday evening when it hosts Morningside College inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium beginning at 6:00pm.
