Bardole Named IIAC Female Athlete of the Week

Box Score

Buena Vista junior outside hitter, Maddie Bardole, has been recognized for her play last week by being named the Iowa Conference Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending, October 4.

It marks the first time this season that a BVU volleyball player has earned Performer of the Week accolades, and it's the fourth time Bardole has been recognized in her career.

For the week, she posted 25 kills and a .375 attack percentage in two Iowa Conference matches, while helping the Beavers post a pair of road victories at Simpson College and Luther College, respectively, and move the team into a tie atop the IIAC standings.

She had 15 kills and six digs in a 3-1 victory over Luther on October 2, handing the Norse their first IIAC loss. Bardole concluded the week by tallying 12 kills and 19 digs in a five-set loss to Northwestern (Minn.) on October 3. She now ranks second in the conference in kills per set and attack percentage. Bardole moved into second place on BVU's all-time kills list in the Luther match and now sits just 22 away from tying the all-time leader.

Fellow teammate, sophomore Jade Schaap, was named 'Special Mention' as Defensive Performer of the Week.

Buena Vista is 13-8 overall (3-1 IIAC) and hosts Loras College (11-8, 2-1 IIAC) tonight (October 6) at 7:30pm.
