Women's Soccer Dealt Tough 6-0 Loss at Luther

Box Score

The Buena Vista women's soccer team couldn't find the offensive surge on Saturday that it's been searching for, as the Beavers fell behind early on the road at Luther College and were dealt a tough 6-0 loss.

The Norse found the net three times over the first 11-plus minutes of the opening half, including a pair on corner kicks.  A third goal off a corner came later in the half as BVU trailed 5-0 at the break.

The defense was much tighter over the final 45 minutes with Luther holding just an 8-5 edge in total shots.  An insurance goal midway through the half proved to be the only score of the period, as Luther (9-1-0, 2-0-0 IIAC) finished with a 21-6 edge in shots.

BVU has now been outscored 10-0 through the first two conference matches and shutout for the seventh time this season.

Samantha Arnold turned in three of BVU's six shots, including one of the two shots-on-goal.

Rachel Novotny went the distance in-goal and also registered three saves.

Buena Vista is now 3-8-0 overall (0-2-0 IIAC) and plays at Coe College on Saturday, October 10, beginning at 3:00pm.
