The University of Dubuque scored a late first half goal for a 1-0 halftime lead and went on to add two more in the second half to hand the Buena Vista women's soccer team a tough 3-0 home loss to begin Iowa Conference play on Saturday afternoon inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium.

The Spartans outshot BVU over the first 45 minutes, 17-0, but couldn't find the net until the 35' when they broke a scoreless match en route to a 1-0 halftime lead.

Dubuque (8-3, 1-0 IIAC) then wasted little time adding to the lead in the second half, scoring the first of its two goals just three minutes in.  The second came during the 60'.

BVU was held to only three shots, but none were on-goal.  Tori Carson recorded two of the three for the Beavers.

Rachel Novotny went the distance in-goal for BVU and finished with eight saves.

The Beavers are now 4-4-1 (0-1 IIAC) and will return to action on Wednesday night at home against Simpson College.  Start time for that Iowa Conference match-up is scheduled for 7:30pm.
