Men's Soccer Defeated 5-1 at Concordia-Moorhead

Box Score

Axel Shema scored a late goal for the Buena Vista men's soccer team on Tuesday afternoon, but it was too-little-too-late for the Beavers who fell on the road to Concordia-Moorhead, 5-1.

For Shema, its his first goal of the year and it came during the 82' off a pass from Joe Pietz to avoid the shutout.

The Cobbers broke the scoreless match during the 35' before making it a 2-0 halftime score with another goal just two minutes later.

Midway through the second half, Concordia made it a 3-0 lead before two more goals just a minute apart made it 5-0.

The Cobbers (2-11-1) held BVU to just three shots in the contest, including the goal by Shema.

Kwame Antwi and Fabian Salazar turned in the other two shots, including one on-goal by Salazar.

Matt Tennyson got the start in-goal for BVU and was charged with the first three goals before Jordan Balster came on late in the match and surrendered the final two.

Buena Vista falls to 4-11-1 and will return to conference play on Saturday night to entertain Coe College in the final home match of the year.  Start time between the Beavers and Kohawks is scheduled for 7:00pm.
