The Buena Vista women's tennis team was looking for consecutive wins to start the year, but the Beavers came up a little short, as Wartburg College handed them their first loss, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Elizabeth Heffernan teamed up with Tasha Nelson to capture an 8-2 triumph in the number two doubles slot, but the Knights edged BVU 8-5 in the number one slot while also capturing the win at number three.

Tarynne Kinghorn secured the team's lone triumph in singles play as she rallied for a 2-6, 7-6 (7-5), 11-9 triumph at number five.  Wartburg took the other five matches in straight sets.

Buena Vista is now 1-1 on the year and will return to the court on September 3 when they host Luther College in an Iowa Conference match-up.  Start time of that match is scheduled for 3:30pm.
