Sophomores Tori Carson and Aleasha Bibler each turned in goals for BVU on Friday night, but the Beavers couldn't quite overcome three first half goals by the Knights en route to a 5-2 setback in what was the season opener for both teams.

The Knights grabbed an early 2-0 advantage before Carson, who scored 16 goals a year ago, cut the deficit in half with her first goal of the year.  The Knights, however, added to the lead with just minutes left in the opening to push the lead to 3-1 at the break.

Martin Luther scored a pair of unanswered second half goals before Bibler's goal with five minutes left was the final points of the game.

The Beavers held a slim 15-14 edge in shots, but the Knights held the margin 9-7 in shots-on-goal.

Buena Vista, now 0-1 on the year, will look to bounce back and even its record on Sunday afternoon when the team hosts Illinois College in its final game of the BVU Classic.  Game time is set for 12:00pm.
