Box Score

The Buena Vista men's basketball team couldn't overcome a tough shooting performance on the road on Saturday night, as UW-Superior broke open the game in the second half en route to a 95-68 victory over the Beavers.

BVU, which didn't have a single player reach double figures, connected on just 38 percent of its shot attempts overall, including 6-of-22 from downtown.  The team did make 14-of-18 at the charity stripe.

Juniors Cole Darrow and Greg Sibenaller each led the way with nine points each with Sibenaller also grabbing five rebounds.  Alex Savage, Nick Clark and Brett Heitkamp all followed with eight points with Clark also dishing out a team-best three assists.  Kennedy Drey chipped in with six points and five boards, while Michael Kaufmann made both of his three-point attempts to also turn in six points.

The Yellowjackets scored 11 of the game's first 12 points before Kaufmann broke the streak with the first of his three-point buckets.  A pair of Heitkamp free-throws brought the Beavers all the way back within one at 13-12, but that was as close as the team could get all night.

The lead went back up to nine at 21-12 for UW-Superior midway through the half, but the Beavers were able to stay close as Sibenaller got a bucket and free-throw to make it a 23-20 contest with 9:28 left.

The Yellowjackets, who made nearly 57 percent of their attempts from the field in the contest, pushed the margin back to double-digits at the 6:35 mark en route to a 51-40 halftime lead.

A 17-6 run by UW-Superior to start the second half made it a 68-46 lead seven minutes into the second half and the Yellowjackets were able to maintain the 20-point margin the rest of the way.

Jarrod Peterson led all scorers with 32 points for UW-Superior, as he led three players in double figures for the Yellowjackets, who improved to 4-5 overall with the win.

Buena Vista had its four-game win streak snapped with the loss and now sit at 4-4 on the year.  The Beavers are now off until taking part in the St. Norbert Tournament on December 28-29.  The team will take on Viterbo to begin play on the 28th beginning at 5:00pm
