Box Score Luis Salazar put BVU on the board late in the second half, and the Beavers came close to tying the match in the closing minutes, but came up short with a ball that hit the cross bar, and the team fell, 2-1, on Tuesday night at Bethany Lutheran.
Salazar took a header off a corner kick from Tyler Smaha early in the 82nd minute to pull the Beavers within one at 2-1. Drake Ruth nearly tied things up four minutes later when he sent a shot that hit the cross bar. BVU had another shot blocked and a final one sail wide in an attempt to force overtime.
Bethany Lutheran (6-4) broke a scoreless match just minutes before halftime before extending that margin to two midway through the second half.
Tyler Lafferty, Carlos Silva and Kwame Antwi each turned in three shots to help pace BVU offensively, as the Beavers out-shot the Vikings in the contest, 21-17.
Jordan Balster got the start in-goal for BVU, going the distance, and posting five saves.
Buena Vista will look to bounce back on Saturday afternoon, when the team plays host to #18 Loras College at 1:00pm.
