Sam Richards scored her third goal of the year midway through the second half to tie the match at 1-1, and that proved to be the final scoring of the contest, as the Buena Vista women's soccer team earned a 1-1 2OT tie on the road at Bethany Lutheran on Tuesday evening.

The Vikings (3-5-3) took the early 1-0 lead with a goal just 11 minutes into the contest.  Despite both teams combing for more than 40 shots in the contest, that proved to be the only goal until Richards even things up during the 73rd minute.

Richards, who's second on the team with 11 points, took a match-high 12 shots in the contest with Tori Carson adding three and Jordan Flynn two.

Each team finished with 22 shots apiece.  The Beavers out-shot the Vikings, 7-4, in the opening half, and 6-4 during the two overtime periods combined.

Tricia Schwartz went the distance in-goal and tallied seven saves in the process.

Buena Vista returns to Iowa Conference play on Saturday afternoon when the team plays host to #16 Loras College at 3:00pm.
