Box Score

The Buena Vista women's soccer team wrapped up its 2013 campaign on Tuesday afternoon with an Iowa Conference road match at Coe College.  The Beavers got a pair of goals from Kelsey O'Connor to help send the team past the Kohawks, 4-0, and give BVU its first IIAC victory of the year.

O'Connor broke a scoreless match midway through the opening period with her first goal of the year, giving the Beavers a 1-0 lead.  Sam Richards made it 2-0 only seven minutes later when she converted a penalty kick for her fifth goal of the year.  Sarah Kensinger, who was playing in her final collegiate match, found the back of the net for her first goal of the year with six minutes remaining in the first half to give BVU a 3-0 halftime cushion.

Richards then dished out her team-leading sixth assist of the year just 15 seconds into the second half when she teamed up with O'Connor to make it a 4-0 lead.

The defense prevailed from there, with Tricia Schwartz going the distance in-goal, recording nine saves en route to the team's first shutout of the year.

Katilyn Yanecek turned in five shots for Coe (3-14-1, 0-7 IIAC).

Buena Vista wraps up the year at 3-15-1 (1-6 IIAC).  In addition to Kensinger, it was also the final match in the careers of Laura Page, Sharon Feld and Megan Schroeder.
